EMPOWERING TODAY - TRANSFORMING TOMORROW
Empowerhouse began in 2016 with one goal in mind: to create an environment that helps young people walk confidently into adulthood. With my background in psychology and criminology, I’ve always been drawn to understanding the mind, how belief, environment and consistent support can completely redirect someone’s path.
What started with one young person has grown into nine homes supporting over 40 young people. For us, growth has always been bigger than providing placements. It’s about progression, into education, training, employment, safer networks and sustainable independence. We work with young people who have complex needs, real histories, high risks and often very little trust in adults, and we watch them rebuild stability, trust, and confidence. We see them make healthier choices, surround themselves with positive influences and grow proud of who they are becoming. That is the work. That is the measure that matters.
We don’t just house young people, we build with them. We hold high expectations, clear boundaries and honest conversations, supported by staff who are trained, emotionally intelligent, present and committed to doing the work with integrity and heart. When social care, youth justice, health and community partners pull in the same direction, trajectories change.
None of this would be possible without our incredible team, the young people who trust us and the councils and partners who believe in our vision.
To our team: you step into situations most people step away from, bringing calm, structure and care.
To our partners: thank you for trusting us with complex work and believing in what’s possible.
To the young person: know this , If you can believe it, you can achieve it. The mind knows no limits. Your starting point does not define your finish.

CHANGING LIVES, EVERY DAY” UNDERNEATH
At Empowerhouse, we believe exceptional care begins with exceptional people. Our diverse and highly skilled team brings together expertise from psychology, youth development, social work and more, all guided by one shared mission: empowering young people to step confidently into adulthood.
Our team is trained in safeguarding and trauma-informed practice, ensuring that the support we provide is rooted in understanding, compassion, and experience. With strong, knowledgeable leadership and dedicated frontline staff, we create safe, stable, and nurturing homes where young people can grow in confidence, build independence, and move toward their futures with clarity and hope.
Our commitment goes far beyond daily support. Our team make sure young people feel heard, valued, and encouraged. We champion their voices, celebrate their successes, and stand alongside them as they take bold steps into education, employment, and independent living.”
Q: In what year did you join Empower House?
I joined in April 2019, and it has been a journey that has shaped both my career and my perspective on the resilience of young people.
Q: What inspired you to join Empower House, and what has kept you here?
My passion drew me to work with young people facing challenges. What has kept me is the drive to see positive outcomes, the strong support of colleagues, and Empower House’s vision and culture. It isn’t just a workplace, it’s a community where change truly happens.
Q: What has been your most memorable experience?
In 2020, I supported DM, an asylum seeker from Iran who arrived as a minor with no English and an uncertain future. His first immigration application was rejected, but with consistent support, he persevered, learning the language, gaining status, continuing in education, securing employment, and eventually living independently. His story is proof of what courage, perseverance, and the right support can achieve.
Q: How has Empower House grown since you started?
The organisation has grown from strength to strength. Our partnerships with local authorities reflect the trust placed in us and the recognition of the impact we have. Numbers don’t just measure growth, but also the depth of transformation we see in young people’s lives.
Q: What lessons have you learned?
Never judge a book by its cover. Behind every referral is a young person with hidden strengths and potential waiting to be discovered.
Q: What advice would you give to staff and young people?
For staff: think positively, show empathy, and go above and beyond. My journey from support worker to HR manager proves that with commitment, growth is always possible.
For young people: trust the process, engage with opportunities, and believe in yourself, the future is yours to shape.
Empower House provides outstanding support.
Staff go above and beyond, from progress reports to helping young people plan for independence.
"Their dedication truly makes a difference." - Argie, Social Worker
At Empower House, one of our favourite activities is cooking together. These sessions bring staff and young people around the table to share recipes, laughter, and culture. From spicy stews to sweet treats, every meal reflects our diversity and the warmth of our community.
Young people take the lead, choosing what to cook and learning independent skills that will support their transition into adulthood, while staff roll up their sleeves to join in. And yes, some homes claim to be better cooks than others (you’ll have to judge for yourself from the pictures!) For us, food is more than a meal. It’s about bonding, building memories, and celebrating the richness of life together.
This month in our Culture Corner, we’re excited to spotlight our staff Jeffrey Williams Baah. Let’s get to know the fun side of him beyond the job title. From his favourite meals to the superpowers he’d love to have, Jeffrey shares a little about his personality, quirks, and the things that make him. Get ready for some laughs and surprises as we dive into his Culture Corner answers.
